VMware Cloud Foundation

Authenticate to My VMware Repository

Welcome to this demonstraton on Authenitcating your My VMware account for use with a Cloud Foundation environment.  This demo assumes SDDC Manager has access to the internet.  For configurations with no internet access, please see the Offline Bundle demonstration.

The major requirements for this process are:

·       A My VMware account that is entitled to VMware Cloud Foundation

·       SDDC Manager has access to the internet without a proxy

Let’s join Rainpole as they begin this process on their Cloud Foundation Private Cloud

We begin at the SDDC Manager dashboard.

  • Click [Repository settings] under Administration

Here we see that we must Authorize My VMware Account to get access to the updates for Cloud Foundation.

  • Click [Authenticate]

Here we see a username and password fielld, this will require valid My VMware Credentials as well as an entitlement to VMware Cloud Foundation under this user account.  Typically this will be the same user account (email) that you login to download software or start support requests.

  • Click [User Name and Password] to populate
  • Click [Authorize]

Once the account has connected successfully we can see the check mark and the Active designation on the My VMware Account Authentication.  If you need to change the credentials in the future you can click on that button, or you can click disconnect if necessary. Now let’s see if any updates are available

  • Click [Bundles]

Currently we see that no updates are available, however this is normal as it does take a few minutes after authenticating. You may need to click refresh in the browser to see if SDDC Manager has connected to the depot and determined if there are any applicable updates.

  • Click [refresh]

Bundles are now showing that are available for download and are applicable to the system.  Updates could continue to populate over the next few minutes to hours depending upon how many updates are available for your Cloud Foundation deployment.

Rainpole is now ready to download and apply updates to their VMware Cloud Foundation instance.  For more information on VMware Cloud Foundation, visit our website at vmware.com/go/cloudfoundation
