The coronavirus pandemic was an unprecedented challenge for universities across the world. How could educational operations continue in-person without jeopardizing the health and well-being of students and faculty? Using data-forward thinking, Purdue University was able to develop methods for safe, in-person education shortly after lockdowns began in March 2020. The ability to remain open was achieved in large part through data-driven decision-making using VMware Greenplum.
The lead Data Scientist for this initiative, Ian Pytlarz, helped develop this powerful organizational response, collecting a wide range of data sources and data types to ensure Purdue’s ongoing safety. Ian will be on-site at VMware Explore to provide an in-depth overview of the strategies he put into practice. And consider: If data can help protect lives during COVID, how could it protect your organization’s needs?
