Decommission External Platform Services Controllers
If you have upgraded from vSphere 6.5 or 6.7 that used external Platform Services Controllers, you may need to decommission these external Platform Services Controllers from the Single Sign-On domain.
Reconfigure SSO Domain Topology
You can use SSO domain repointing to consolidate or distribute vCenter Server 7 instances into a single SSO domain or separate SSO domains.
Configure File-Based Backups
After upgrading to vCenter Server 7, it is recommended to configure file-based backups of the vCenter Server. You can also configure a recurring schedule to have backups taken at a regular frequency.
Convert Clusters to Image-Based Management
Once you have upgraded to vSphere 7 (both vCenter Server and ESXi) you can convert ESXi clusters from baseline-based lifecycle management to image-based lifecycle management.
Inspect vSphere Certificate Expirations
vSphere certificates typically have a 2 year life span. It is recommended to inspect the validity of your vSphere certificates and plan a refresh if approaching their expiration.
Apply vSphere 7 Licenses
vSphere 6 licenses are incompatible with vSphere 7. After you upgrade to vSphere 7, you avail of a 60 day evaluation period. Before that evaluation period expires, you should apply new vSphere 7 and vSAN 7 licenses.
